Jason McKelvie, alongside his brother Paul, form the second generation on the McKelvie side of the Mapel Building family.
Jason started off in a labouring position in 2001 after returning to Perth from Queensland. Primarily, he works in undertaking rigging activities and oversees those operations to ensure they’re done efficiently and safely. Jason’s role involves doing a little bit of everyone else’s job for project success. But it’s wearing his supervisor hat which is his favourite part of the job, where workdays are action-packed to keep him busy.
Outside of work Jason cycles and is a father to three girls. He also takes time to be creative at home, using a metal lathe to make his own torch lights; a niche market but a hobby he enjoys to make something useful. Once built, Jason adds them to his collection at home and sells a couple.
As a second-generation family business, Mapel Building has been designing and constructing commercial and industrial buildings in Perth, Western Australia for over 25 years.
